From the Lindy Hop, to the Bunny Hop, to Hip Hop, Will Rogers College High School students will “stroll” down memory lane at 1:00 on September 11 at the assembly recognizing the anniversary of the school’s opening on that day 85 years ago.
Dancers representing each decade will perform everything from the Jitterbug to the Macarena as a part of the event sponsored by the Will Rogers High School Community Foundation.
State and community leaders will join Will Rogers’ great-granddaughter, Jennifer Etcheverry and a surprise guest performer to celebrate the occasion.
“During the assembly, we’re planning to recognize former teachers, principals, alumni and Hall of Fame inductees,” principal Cindy Largent-Williams said. “We will also hear a proclamation from the City of Tulsa to designate September 11, 2024, as Will Rogers Day.”
When the one-hour assembly ends, students will receive treats as they return to class and the alumni and special guests will go to the gym for a reception to continue the celebration.
