Dr. Joseph Pelton is a noted figure in the realm of space exploration and education. During his career, he has held the titles of Dean Emeritus and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the International Space University (ISU). A seasoned professor at George Washington University, the University of Colorado and the ISU, Dr. Pelton has taught thousands of students.
Dr. Pelton founded the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation and assumed the role of President of the Society of Satellite Professionals International (now recognized as the Space and Satellite Professionals International – SSPI). His leadership not only shaped organizations but also extended to influential management positions at COMSAT and INTELSAT, where he served as the Director of Strategic Policy. This leadership continues in his role as the Chair of the Alliance for Collaboration in the Exploration of Space (ACES Worldwide).
Dr. Pelton’s influence resonates through his contributions as an author and futurist. He has authored 70 books, over 400 articles and a Pulitzer Nomination for his writings. His recognition internationally is marked by honors such as the Sir Arthur Clarke International Achievement Award in Britian and the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2017, his achievements were further underscored with the Da Vinci Award from the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety and the coveted Guardian Award from the Lifeboat Foundation – an accolade previously bestowed upon luminaries like Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, and Prince Charles.
