Through the initiative of Steve Wright (’56), a foundation board member, Will Rogers High School has been opened to the public for scheduled tours of the historic Will Rogers High School building and collection of large mural type photographs of the life and career of the school’s namesake, “Oklahoma’s favorite son.” This program began in 2009 and continues on a periodic basis. Tours are announced in the media. Because school campuses are closed to the public, this treasure trove had been off limits for many years. The response has been excellent.
Steve sharpened his knowledge of the school when researching for a calendar that he produced. He has worked with several volunteer docents who have themselves become familiar with the school’s history and significance.
